What to Expect

This intensive may be unlike other trainings you’ve attended. Review these guidelines for what to expect.

1. What the course is and is not

This is a transformational course, not an informational seminar, traditional training, networking conference, or forum for psychological healing. We will not analyze you or “therapize” you — as we like to joke, that would be extra — but we will teach you to observe and go beyond your personal stopping points, so you can live a life you are proud of and make the difference you are really here to make. To give you and your fellow participants all you came for, we require full attendance.

2. Confidentiality

We keep all interactions in the course confidential, not disclosing the names or identities of any participants, except with their express permission. We ask you to do the same (this doesn’t prevent you from sharing what you get from the course). While we may take photos or videos during the course (only if you sign our release form in-person), we won’t be capturing intimate or vulnerable moments — only footage that captures the course’s spirit of empowerment and community.

3. A safe space for transformation

Just as a caterpillar becomes a butterfly and cannot revert to a caterpillar, you will have the chance to have a transformation: not a “change” or a “peak experience,” but a beautiful, lasting shift in how you see and do things. The course will be rigorous, fun, and challenging, and will occur at all times within a 100% safe space. You may at times sense discomfort as you examine how you currently operate; just remember, this is normal and healthy for anyone creating a new pathway to success!

4. Our approach

Your course leaders will be coaching you, not “facilitating.” A coach is someone in whose presence people are freed up to see what is most important to them, as well as what has gotten in the way of their success. As coaches, we structure the course in a very specific and intentional way, although you may not always see it in the moment. All we ask is that you be willing to go past the point where you have normally stopped yourself whenever you have gone for important goals.

5. A focus on the personal

In this course, you will see how to use your personal transformation and leadership development to make your fullest contribution in the world. While we will focus on the personal as opposed to the global, we will support and encourage you to see how you can apply the principles and skills of the course to better serve the world around you.

6. Sobriety

We ask that you refrain from using alcohol or recreational drugs for the duration of this course. This does not include prescription medications you are taking. This course creates new ways for your brain to process information, and this would be disrupted by mind-altering substances.

7. Diversity

Our participants and leadership are diverse in many ways, and we have a vision of even greater diversity — including along lines of race, ethnicity, culture, socio-economic background, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ability. We are a “work in progress,” and we are doing the important work of building lasting relationships and enlisting lasting support and leadership of diverse communities. We would love your partnership in making this vision a reality.
